"Wix Spaces App" by Tony Mayer

This blog entry will be a little different from our usual blog entries...

Also, if you are using a computer, you need not read further (unless you're just curious as to what this blog entry is about and want to read about our "Cookies Policy" message and what it is there for).

As many of you probably know, I'm the Founder of WWD. I created it on 02-Aug-2007. It has existed in many forms, and multiple places online since then. After 15.5 years, I decided to retire a few months back. Although I am no longer a member of the groups, I still do help Bonnie (the new owner) in the background with some of the more technical things such as running this website/blog since I am a developer.

I, unfortunately, added the WIx Spaces app to widowwidowerdating.org a while back. At the time I thought it would be a nice feature for not only our current members, but new visitors as well.

After I created the little, very basic app, I realized that it left possibly the most important page of Widow / Widower Dating completely out. The "About" page with links to the parts of our organization where you can join the actual dating, chat, and grief support is completely missing from the app, and only available on the mobile browser version.

I have contacted WIx Support, and I was told that once added the app could not be removed. (It would have been nice if they let people know that in advance). The best that I can do is require approval for membership for new members, remove the "Invite Code" from the app, and eliminate the pop up that suggests that you use the app. I will definitely be doing all of that today!

If you are already a member of the other parts of the WWD Organization (where dating, chat, and grief support actually happen), and the ONLY thing you want to do is read the blog entries, you are free to continue using the WIx Spaces app.

I highly recommend the mobile browser alternative over the "WIx Spaces app" for members who use a phone.

You may have also noticed that the URL (web address) to the website/blog has changed. That is because I have purchased a domain name ( widowwidowerdating.org ) and I also pay a monthly fee to make it a "professional" website rather than a free website/blog (for ME ONLY. All parts of WWD will ALWAYS be free for our members).

As for the little "Cookie Settings" pop-up, that is just something that I set up to conform to Google's and the other search engines' policies in order to attain a higher ranking in the search engines. This will help us to get more members, which will in turn help increase your odds of finding someone!

I hope everyone is well.
