Dating by Dulcie Bercaw

Good morning my wonderful people. How is everyone today?

Today's advice is about dating. Period.

I see many posts talking about when is it time, LDR, and the such. As this is primarily a dating group it is assumed that you are here because you feel you are ready to move on. If not that is fine we promote healthy friendships as well.

When thinking about dating it can be hard to determine if you are ready to take that step. Taking that first step into the dating world can be scary and intimidating.

My advice on this is to not call it a date. Call it a meet-up or something. By saying date you are setting yourself up. Once you feel comfortable meeting people then open up to "dating".

When you are new to the world of "dating" it can be hard to not set yourself up for failure with lists of things you want and don't want. Do not limit yourself to these lists as you will never find someone who fits everything you expect from a person. Keep an open mind and expand your horizons. Don't base who you are looking for on looks alone but on personality and heart.

Long-distance relationships can and do work for some. It all depends on whether you are open and trusting. Trust is a big must in an LDR. You have to be open to the possibility of moving in the future. If you aren't open to moving or they are not open to moving to your location an LDR will never be more than friends.

On that note. I am 49 and live in a small town on the Ohio/Indiana border about midway in both states. I have been widowed for 4 years and have a 22-year-old daughter, a 20-year-old son, and a 21-year-old autistic nephew. I am open to just about anything except relocating. I have too much going on here to leave.

I am looking for friends or more depending on what happens. I am an open book so ask away. You will not see filtered pictures or pictures that don't represent me. I am not a girly girl so you won't see me in make-up very often. Most of my pictures are from when I was overweight which is why you keep seeing the same pictures repeatedly. Anything you want to know ask away.
