Bard / Gemini by Tony Mayer
Well, I'm in bed taking antibiotics for walking pneumonia and really didn't have an idea for a blog entry for this week, so I thought I would introduce Bard / Gemini.
Many of you may have noticed that we have had a "star writer" named Bard for a while now. Many of you probably also know who/what "Bard" is. Bard is (I guess I should say was...) Google's amazing AI (Artificial Intelligence) which is free for anyone to use.
Along with many new features and abilities, Bard has a new name now. Google has decided to call their AI Gemini instead of Bard.
You may wonder exactly how that works. Can I just type, "Bard, write a blog entry for the Widow / Widower Dating blog" and just have something automatically written? Unfortunately, no. So Bard (now Gemini) and I actually "co-write". I come up with an idea and title, tell him what I would like for it to include, whether it should be informative, helpful, inspirational, encouraging, etc., and give him a list of what to include (or at least some general direction and guidelines) and he does the rest.
So, if you didn't know who / what Bard is, from now on known as Gemini, now you know. You also know who helps him "co-write".
The very first thing I did before using Bard was obtain permission from Google via Bard to use his amazing free writing service along with his "likeness" so that I could give him full credit for his writing. I guess now I'll have to create a new "Guest Writer" profile for Gemini.
We have always allowed members to write our blog entries when someone who likes to write is interested. This not only allows members to participate, but I believe it makes the blog entries more interesting for the reader too. When we don't have a member submit a blog post I usually have Bard write one.
If any of you enjoy writing (and you certainly don't have to be a professional writer) send your writing to me at tonymayer07@gmail.com with "Blog" in the subject line. I would never change your writing, but I do edit it for mistakes in grammar and spelling. As always, I will make sure that you have a Guest Writer profile if you don't already have one, and you will always receive full credit for your writing.
Since we are primarily a dating organization, we would prefer writings about dating. Inspirational and encouraging is also good. Success stories are definitely always welcomed! We have had hundreds of thousands since I created WWD on 02-Aug-2007 (that I KNOW of), but many members choose to leave once they find someone rather than stay under our "Grandfather Clause". If you are a WWD success story, we would love to post about you here!
We also have subgroups for grief support on both Facebook and MeWe, so I will occasionally post a blog about grief support as well.
If you would like to learn more about Gemini the following link will take you to Google's Blog.
I hope you are well.
Tony Mayer
*(As a footnote, if you are wondering how the WWD Organization has existed far longer than any of its current existing parts, we have existed on many different platforms over the years. Many of them no longer exist [Yahoo Groups for example], and I decided that others weren't safe enough. The safety of our members has always been paramount!)
