When Does the Pain Go Away by Tony Mayer (and Jonny Harp Wynn Ayers)

While responding to a post in the USA Facebook Group asking "When does the pain go away?", a very wise member stated, "Never. Your world just gets bigger so your pain seems smaller. Sometimes...".

I had to respond to her comment with one of my own; "I don't believe that I have ever heard it put better. I'm over 12 years out, and your statement is perfectly worded. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross said it pretty much exactly the same way. She included an illustration with a dark circle representing our grief. That circle is always there. We just grow a NEW life AROUND it. How often we visit that dark inner circle as the light circle around it grows (eventually, with time to heal and grow "our circle") will someday be our choice. We can always "visit", but we don't have to "live there", with time...

I highly recommend anything by the author Dr Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. She has amazing books about grief and healing. I'm not endorsing a product here since that would be breaking site rules, but she has a lot of free writings online, and I'm sure that you can also find her books in your local library.

I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving (or at least the best possible), and I wish you all a joyous Christmas season! God bless.
